Above you will see the Learning Artifact that I did earlier in the semester. The Learning Artifact is meant to help future UTA’s develop lesson plans for their students. In the video, I dive into what worked and what didn’t in my lesson on grammar. I focus on the feedback that the students gave to each part of my lesson. This was the only lesson plan I gave that was entirely tailored to the needs of this semester’s students. I had modified my first lesson plan from last year on integrating quotes to better fit this semester’s class, but I wanted to make something that was unique to my current students. There is a lot to be learned from teaching grammar because it is such a detailed, specific topic that most students are somewhat familiar with. It is often a topic that is ignored by higher education English teachers because it is assumed that by the time students get to college, they should already have learned everything there is to know about grammar. This is simply untrue for most students, and since giving this lesson, I have seen a noticeable improvement in my students’ grammar.
